If I were a bear, the wilderness is where I’d be. Mountains, oceans, or forest, all sound just right to me.

If I Were a Bear

Review

Okay I’m a little biased about bear related books lately because of Maren, but this is really fun! Nearly every spread talks about a different type of bear, and tells you a little fact about that type of bear. These facts are framed in a “if I were this kind of bear I’d…” type of sentence, which works really well.

There’s also a nice rhyme scheme to the words which is great for reading to little bitties. Some of the pages have better rhythm than others, mainly just one syllable too long on a couple pages, but that’s really my only complaint. The artwork is nice, makes the bears look sweet without losing a certain realism to them, and the colors and watercolor background style are very nice.

We love having this one in our ever-growing bear related board book collection!
