Spyhopping, twisting, and slapping my tail, I’d have fun every day if I were a whale!
Review
This is another adorable (and gorgeously illustrated) “If I Were A…” book! I believe this was the original one that started the series. It’s super cute and fun! I like the rhythmic nature of the wording, though sometimes the cadence sort of shifts to accommodate some extra syllables. But if you take time reading it and don’t try to read it all in one long go, it shouldn’t trip you up.
And taking your time will be easy with this book, because you’ll want to really look at these images and admire the fantastic use of watercolor in some of them. It’s simple, and yet really evokes that feeling of being underwater!
We also learn a lot of cool facts about a bunch of different types of whales, which is nice! Not sure how much of that information the baby is actually attaining at this point, but it’s fun for her sister to sit in on and learn about while she’s being read to!
