Review
This book has everything Maren loves. It’s got big pages to flip aggressively back and forth. It’s got flaps, textures, and shiny foil! But the best part is that is has a mirror with Maren’s beautiful face in it. And Maren wants to kiss that face and boop its nose! So this one is a total hit.
I generally prefer a smaller board book, but in cases like this, I’m actually glad it’s a larger book. It allows Maren to really get up in it and the pages are big and weighted enough to lay open flat on whatever spread she is currently investigating, which is nice. It means less weird accidents like poking herself in the eye with the rounded corner of the book’s pages when they swing shut as she leans her weight down on it to lick the page (yep, that’s a thing that happens). This is a simple and fun and interactive book that we are glad to have on our bookshelf! While there’s no story, and thus doesn’t require much engagement on my part, I really hope it can hold up to a lot of use, because I have a feeling we are going to be reading (and playing with) this one a lot!
