Board Book Review: Scratchie – A Touch-And-Feel Cat-Venture
Sometimes these type of books are super entertaining for kids, but not so much for adults. This one, however, is actually pretty funny.

Review
I have noticed that my second child is way more into the touch and feel books than the first one was. So I was really excited to get this one because I knew Maren would like it. Sometimes these type of books are super entertaining for kids, but not so much for adults. This one, however, is actually pretty funny. Instead of just seeing the things the cat likes to scratch, at the end of the book we see the consequences of all the scratching and touching: the house is a disaster! The cat, of course, is not overly concerned about this, and wonders what could be scratched next. The suggestion of course is the cat itself!
This is Maren’s favorite page because Scratchie is a black cat just like ours. Only she can pet this one as much as she wants without annoying it to the point that it leaves! The fact that it comes to a funny conclusion makes it more fun for me to read, as there’s a hint of a plot and not just a list of textures.
I do wish that a couple of the textures were a bit more tactile, though. The wood grain being the most lacking for me. Other than that, though, they work well.
