Review
As soon as I saw ”Walt Disney Animation Studios Artist Showcase” on the cover, I was very excited about this one. I’m such a sucker for animated movies and short films, so I had high expectations for this. I was not disappointed. The main character reminds me so much of Madeline. It’s that age she’s at right now, where she just loves to tell stories and make things up and draw them. So this book makes me really happy because of that. It’s also super cute. The illustration is fantastic, which is not surprising, but I love the color palette. It’s really pleasing. Even the one year old got sucked into this one, flipping the pages and looking at the artwork. So, bonus points for that!
The story itself is of course set up the way a four year old might tell you about her day. It starts innocently enough. Nothing weird or unusual. But slowly, as the story goes on, things get wilder and more outlandish, until finally she comes to the actual point of the story, which could have been said from the start. Its just a really fun read, and definitely one I’ll be reaching for often!
