If Jack built a school, there would be hover desks, pop-up textbooks, skydiving wind tunnels, a robo-chef, and a whole lot more.

If I Built a School

Review

This is a book that really sparks your imagination. There’s nothing like hearing someone’s idea of the perfect something to kick your brain into gear coming up with its own version of that perfect something.

When we finished reading this one and I asked Madeline what her school would look like, she told me there would be really nice, but really big, bugs that you could ride on but they’d also be the desks and that if you were scared of riding the bugs there would also be birds. It was really fun to see how differently she pictured her own school compared to the story we had just read.

It’s also just really fun to read. The rhyming structure is well done, which makes it quick and fluid to read so you can really get into it and worry more about reading it with enthusiasm than stumbling over awkward rhymes.
