Wish. Wonder. Wander. You just never know what a new day will hold, but you need to be brave to find out. Review

I got If I Had a Little Dream when it first came out, but had a hard time getting a hold of the physical copy of Yellow Kayak. It never seemed to be available in our local bookstore, and I like to thumb through a picture book before I buy it, even though I knew I’d love this one. Thankfully, when I was asked by Simon Kids if there were any books they hadn’t listed to send out that I wanted, I was able to ask about this one. It was like Christmas morning I was so excited when I got this!

And let me just say… for as beautiful as the first book was, this one just might have it beat! The color palette is absolutely gorgeous, the illustrations themselves are fantastic. And the story is so lovely and fun! Where If I Had a Little Dream felt more like snippets or a poem, Yellow Kayak actually follows more of a plot. The boy and his friend get in a yellow kayak, and their adventures at sea begin! While I think Madeline was more interested in the narrative, I honestly just kept drooling over the artwork. It was nice because we were both able to bring a differing perspective of our love for it together as we read it.

I highly recommend getting both of these books. Honestly, if framing books was a thing, I would frame these!
