Join two fairies in their race to build a tree house.

Mip and Pip live in a beautiful forest near a waterfall. One day, Mip has a brilliant idea to build a tree house and decides to make it into a contest: whoever can build the tallest tree house the fastest wins! Pip, who is more of a planner, reads about architecture and sketches out blueprints while Mip, the speedster, is already halfway done constructing her house.

But what will happen when a strong gust of wind blows through the forest? Will the two friends be able to band together and work as a team to save their tree houses?

Review

If you want to show your kids the advantage of patience and proper planning in action, this is a great book! It’s also super adorable. I mean, it’s fairies. How can it not be adorable?

So these two fairies are competing, and one takes nothing into account other than just diving in and going strong right away. She seems to be succeeding until a wind blows away all her efforts because she doesn’t want to take the time to make sure it’s properly secured.

What’s great about this book is that it doesn’t just end there with her lesson to be patient learned. Instead, they discover that what has been wrecked actually holds promise for something even better, and working together rather than against each other allows them to create something better than either of them designed on their own. (Also it becomes a fun shape afterward that delighted us when we realized what it looked like)! So not only do we get the main message about patience, we also learn that just because something is broken doesn’t mean it can’t be fixed or made better, and of course the power of teamwork!
