Just when Private I thinks all is calm—now that’s he’s cracked the case of 7 ate 9—Question Mark storms into his office.
Mark is worried. All the uppercase letters are M-I-S-S-I-N-G! But that’s absurd! This is Capital City!
Private I is the last letter standing. Will he solve his biggest mystery yet, the Upper Case, before it’s too late?!
Review
This pun-tasting take on capital letters and punctuation is lots of fun! And this book could not have landed on our doorstep at a better time, since Madeline is starting to learn about uppercase vs lowercase letters. This is such a fun and clever way to bring the letters to life, and with its humanizing similarities to the way Madeline is learning her letters at school, this book will make a great tool for us in the coming year as we continue to learn our letters and eventually learn how to read! No more rote memorization of the alphabet. Now we remember that letters and punctuation marks have jobs to do—and what those jobs are—just by reading these puns and following the visual clues for each character.
