It’s time for children everywhere to unleash their true strength! In #StrongKids, Chief Empowerment Officer, Jennifer Keitt, and her daughter Naomi, empower children to use their thoughts to make them strong every day.
I love the fact that this book is essentially a kids version of a self-help book. Like it just skips all the extra and boils down to this fact: Your thoughts control your emotions and how you get through your day. So change your thoughts and your emotions will follow. It’s simple and does really well explaining/illustrating this concept. Madeline was doing what I tend to do when I read the adult equivalent which is a lot of nodding and going “Oh. Yeah. Yeah I just do that and then it’ll be great!” which was quite entertaining to watch. Emotional intelligence is such an important part of growing a successful child (that sounded funny) who has the skills to cope with their emotions as they grow as well as when they become adults. I’m really glad to have this little resource in our library and I think both my children will benefit from this greatly. Especially considering they are little versions of me and this particular thought process is also important for just focusing your thoughts in general—something I have to do a little more often than most due to ADD. While this is specifically talking about changing your emotions, I think the message and lesson is easily spreadable to other aspects of life. Madeline gave me an example, afterward, when we spoke about the book, that she was able to go underwater without crying about the water in her eyes because she thought it would be okay. So this definitely translates well into just good old fashioned empowerment as well.
