I always forget about the themes by the time they actually arrive at my house.

Great news for you! I’m an Owlcrate Jr rep, but my code works for Owlcrate also! Get 10% off with my code GIVEMENERDY

Owlcrate March

I always forget about the themes by the time they actually arrive at my house. So I didn’t really know what to expect with this one. It was a fun surprise!

Owlcrate March

We’ll start with the drawstring bag. It’s a cool and simple all-over print design with a leather (pleather?) top strip. I like the simplicity of it, but I’m not a huge fan of the drawstring type bags. The ropes always dig into my shoulders because I inevitably overpack the bag with books. This would make a great little kid-care kit type bag around October, though. (So I’ll likely only haul diapers and extra clothes etc in it)

Next is this absolutely fantastic ceramic mug, complete with little rubber hand-saver for when you have a hot drink inside it. The design on this is from one of my very favorite books, so I probably won’t want to cover it with the rubber. And this is actually the shape and size of my only other favorite tea mug, so I’m really excited about this one. It’s going to get used a ton, which is untrue for most of my mugs I get from book boxes. They usually either become decor in my office or are handed over to my coffee-drinking hubby to wear and tear on a regular basis.

Next we got this candle, which smells really good. Like, really really good. But I don’t know the reference, I don’t think. On the plus side, this means I may actually burn it, since I’m not too worried about using it as a photo prop!

We also got this awesome Game of Thrones inspired wooden bookmark, which is going to be in heavy rotation this next couple months as the new season progresses. Along with it was this really fun sticker for a book I know of but haven’t read yet. And this super cool lapel pin that has a little actual spinner arrow! I spun it a lot of times already. A lot.

Owlcrate March

As always, we get a little booklet of info and fun activities or interviews and whatnot featuring the same artwork as the spoiler card, which—you guessed it—has the spoilers on the back. Also, we have the theme card for the next month which is The Dark Side. Very exciting!

Owlcrate March

And finally, we have this month’s book, which to be perfectly honest I thought was part of the series of number/royal item titled books by Kendare Blake so this took me a hot minute to realize wasn’t connected to this. I’m really super over the crown design and queens in the titles theme happening in YA books/covers lately. They’re truly blurring together at this point for me. NOT knocking this book as I say this, because when I finally read the synopsis it sounded really good, so I’m intrigued! I like the alternate color choice for the cover this month, which is a bonus, as I tend to prefer the originals to the Owlcrate versions for some weird reason. And then we also got these fun extras which include a small print that I really like, some character art, and a pencil (which gave away the book before I got to it in the unboxing. Oops)

Summary

I’m really excited about the mug, and feel like the entire box was worth it for that and the bookmark. I think the other items are great and definitely add value along with the book, but if I hadn’t gotten this box, the two items I mentioned first would be ones I’d be hunting down in a b/s/t group on Facebook.
